Leap is my first traditionally-published graphic novel: a hefty girl at 300 pages and a labour of about three years, that was published under Roaring Brook Press, an imprint of Macmillan US.
It’s a queer coming of age story about two high school students in a Romanian dance conservatory - one of them is losing herself in a relationship with a closeted ballerina while the other is in love with her contemporary dance teacher. Their friendship anchors them as they navigate their sexuality, first love and first heartbreaks. It’s a soft story I wrote when I was a baby queer myself and would’ve loved to read something like this as a confused teenager. She got a bunch of awards, listed below, and was my big entrance into making comics for a living!
